This position is located in the Public Works Branch, Installation Facilities & Environmental Division, Marine Corps Base, Quantico, Virginia.

This is an emergency position. In the event of an emergency, the incumbent can be notified to report for work during non-duty hours, and during an emergency situation, may be assigned duties other than those identified.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.

Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

You must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

Overtime/Weekend/Holiday/Shift work may be required.

Physical examination is required.

DUTIES:
Prepares, paints and stains various surfaces as prescribed in accordance with standard painting techniques.

Determines the method, devices and materials that are best suited to the surface finish required.

Work is performed on interior and exterior surfaces using rollers, brushes and spray guns on wood, metal, masonry and drywall.

Performs other tasks as directed in support of organization's workload and/or emergencies.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Painter without more than normal supervision such as: applying complete knowledge and practices in the painting trade; applying materials so that surfaces meet the specified or desired texture, color, thickness, and level requirements; and using all types of basic painting and spraying equipment including rollers, brushes, scrapers, ladders of various sizes, air compressors, spray guns, stripping machines, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

Overtime/Weekend/Holiday/Shift work may be required.

Selectee must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license and be able to safely operate a government vehicle (truck, van, car, etc.).

Job assignments require climbing, lifting, kneeling, bending, stooping and ability to determine heights and colors.

The incumbent is required to lift equipment and material that weighs 40 pounds and over.

The incumbent must be able to set up ladders, scaffolding, staging, move workboxes, sanding machines, buffers, etc.

Must be able to safely wear all personal protective equipment including respiratory protection (respirators); some work assignments may require entry into confined spaces.

Work will be performed in the interior of buildings and quarters and on the exterior when weather is permissible.

At times work will be performed under dusty, noisy, dirty conditions and soiling of clothes may result.

Some work will be performed using toxic material such as floor cleaner, solvents, stripper, etc.
