Reports to Assistant Director, Campus Operations. Performs skilled work in the preparation and painting of interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, structures, fixtures and furniture.

Basic Function
This position is repsponsible for the painting duties of all university buildings and facilities. May also assist other staff on an as needed basis. The incumbent will be expected to work independently and exercise judgement and initiative.

Essential Duties
Performs skilled painting work, including using roller, brush and spraying equipment to apply paint, stain and varnish to walls, ceilings, equipment, furniture, exterior surfaces, signs, etc.; mixes and matches paints. Prepares working surfaces for painting or repairing; removes and scrapes paint; Makes repairs to and refinishes furniture and other equipment; operates sandblasting equipment; places drop cloths on working area floor; rigs scaffolding; caulks tubs, showers, windows and other interior or exterior surfaces. Replaces, installs and repairs variety of floor coverings. Gathers necessary materials required to complete a job; monitors inventory levels and reports supply needs to supervisor. Cleans and maintains equipment and work area. Performs miscellaneous paint shop duties such as stenciling and light carpentry. Performs related duties as required such as safely driving a vehicle to pick up and deliver personnel and materials. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
Two to Four years of skilled painting experience.
Knowledge of appropriate painting techniques and related safety procedures.
Valid Ohio Driver License

Preferred Qualifications
Additional training in the Painting trade.
Wood Working and Carpentry knowledge.
Ablility to safely use wood cutting machinery and tools.

Physical Demands
Must possess mobility to work in and around buildings and facilities, to operate a motor vehicle, to climb and descend ladders and to operate varied hand and power tools and equipment; this job involves frequent walking, bending,stooping, kneeling and reaching. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 70 pounds individually and heavier amounts with the use of proper equipment. Environmental elements; employees will be exposed to hot and cold temperatures, inclement weather, fumes, chemicals and dust.
