Franchise/International Transactions Paralegal - Job Description
Assist with documentation of various domestic and international franchise related transactions. Work with other paralegals and attorneys as necessary, to draft, review and negotiate agreements, handling all routine issues and consulting with others as needed when complex legal questions arise. Assist attorneys in the Franchise/International Practice Group as requested.
Manage all aspects of documentation for transfers and assignments of existing domestic franchise and development agreements
Manage all aspects of documentation for new international franchise and development agreements
Prepare digest summaries for all completed franchise related transactions
Maintain portions of franchise information database
Communicate regularly with all departments, franchisees, franchise managers and outside counsel on franchise legal matters
Prepare UCC filings
Assist Associate General Counsel – Compliance, with franchise and development agreement enforcement matters
Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed
Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
Strong organizational skills
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, problem-solving and administrative skills
Minimum of 5 years experience in a law firm or corporate legal environment
Ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision
Interpret internal or external business/technical issues and recommend solutions in line with best practices
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Ability to be flexible and to work in a cross-functional team environment
Ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external business partners and clients
Self-starter with willingness to further develop skills as paralegal and business person
Excellent communication (speaking, writing and listening) skills
In-house legal department experience at a franchise and/or publicly traded company is strongly preferred, but not required
Minimum Education Requirements/Certifications/Licenses
Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree
