The paralegal will work with Office of University Counsel clients throughout the University in support of the functions of the OUC. Paralegal will perform substantive legal work under the supervision of the University Counsel and/or the Associate University Counsels to include such duties as preparation, review and negotiation of complex legal documents (primarily contracts relating to purchase of goods and services, and instructional agreements). Other duties may include preparation of releases; proofreading legal documents for substance; researching complex legal issues and/or university policies and records; assisting in preparation of responses to public records requests, discrimination charges or other complaints pending before state and federal administrative agencies (such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, and the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings); analyzing facts and documents; and providing litigation support as deemed appropriate.
COMPLETION OF AN ACCREDITED PARALEGAL PROGRAM; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.
