The Paramedic under the direction of the Medical Director of the Emergency Department and Emergency Services Director is responsible for implementing technical procedures and care on Emergency Department patients safely and effectively. The quality of care and service given will adhere to the philosophy and objectives of the hospital in order to meet the health care needs of patients, and their families. The Paramedic works responsibly as a medical assistant under the direct supervision and responsibility of the Emergency Department (ED) physicians performing care for patient(s) in accordance with physician’s orders, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: EMT-Paramedic Certification, as well as current BCLS, ACLS and PALS required.
Education: Successful completion of EMS course.
Experience: Two years Paramedic experience required. One to two years hospital experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrates good organizational skills. Performs procedures safely and accurately within standards of practice. Displays appropriate judgement and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers. Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision. Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 100 pounds.
