As our Parent Connector you will communicate with parents of children who have emotional or behavioral problems. You will work as a peer to provide support to up to ten other parents who are currently raising a child or children with emotional or behavioral problems . You will provide instructional, informational, emotional, and advocacy support to parents through weekly telephone contacts throughout the school year. You will complete written records of the calls made with parents, as well as attend weekly Parent Connector meetings.
To be considered for this unique opportunity you will need:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have experience raising children with serious ongoing mental health problems
Ability to establish rapport on the telephone and be supportive to other parents
Strong communication and listening skills
Capability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Transportation to attend all meetings
Ability to complete a 16 hour professional training workshop
