Performs intermediate skilled work in the maintenance, repair and grooming of the City's Park facilities; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision may be exercised over groundskeepers, seasonal, community service workers, and inmates.
Essential Job Functions*:
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor; Ability to lift up to 75 pounds; Ability to walk on a variety of terrain for extended periods; Ability to work outside under varying and often unfavorable weather conditions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for use of measuring devices; determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, and hazards. Worker may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and required to wear specialized protective equipment.
Performs specialized care of park facilities and equipment; Participates in the mowing, watering and marking of the fields; Conducts regular inspections of fields and creates and maintains reports; Picks up trash, empties trash cans, and removes any debris from fields; Operates various types of light to medium-duty equipment; Performs minor repairs and maintenance of the equipment; Responds to emergency situations as directed; Reports to work on assigned duty schedule; Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.
Assist in snow removal and storm damage clean-up; Attends Turf grass Seminars for continuing education on Turf grass improvements.

Thorough knowledge of park type facilities and the maintenance requirements; herbicides and pest control methods and the ability to apply it; General knowledge of water and irrigation systems; Basic knowledge of equipment needed to properly maintain areas; Ability to operate light to medium-duty equipment; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Education and or experience equivalent to an associate degreeor related field experience. Some experience in equipment management.
Special License and Certificates:
Possession of or ability to obtainCommercial Pesticide Applicators license required. Possession of or ability to obtain a commercial drivers license.
