The Village of Pinecrest is seeking service oriented individuals to work in a beautiful park setting to perform maintenance and custodial duties and serve the public in a friendly and courteous manner. Individuals must enjoy working outdoors and dealing with the public. The Park Service Aide position is a part-time position generally scheduled to work an average of 25 hours per week. Candidates must be able to work weekends, holidays and evenings .

Park Service Aide – Position Description

Responsible for the safety and supervision of participants in Village coordinated functions, such as tennis camps, youth summer programs, festivals, concerts, cultural and community events and the safety and maintenance of parks and gardens facilities including enforcement of all rules and regulations.

This position may be supervised by the Parks and Recreation Director and Park Manager or the Pinecrest Gardens Director, Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager. The Park Service Aide does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform general maintenance and clean up duties of facilities, such as, the emptying of trash, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors, wiping down tables and chairs and other furnishings, replenishing toilet paper and hand towels, raking leaves, cleaning concession area, petting zoo area, parking lots, restrooms, and ball fields.
• Perform manual work in semi-skilled jobs involving maintenance, repair of buildings and grounds and construction, including pressure cleaning, graffiti removal, painting and other related tasks.
• Concession and cashier duties involving the sale of retail products. Perform cash and credit card transactions.
• Perform admission booth duties selling admission tickets and collecting payments.
• Greet visitors in a friendly and sincere manner. Assist general public, in person and on the telephone by providing general information regarding programs and events. Perform production assistance in the Banyan Bowl and/or Hammock Pavilion during performances (Pinecrest Gardens only).
• Assist with the coordination of recreational activities, including setting up and cleaning of rooms for recreational activities and party rentals.
• Enforce safety and other park rules and regulations.
• Ability to become CPR and AED certified.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities and tasks according to work schedule.
• Ability to get along with others and work effectively with the public and fellow workers.
• Ability to work assigned schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Perform related recreational work as required and assigned by the corresponding supervisor.
• Perform any other assigned duties.

Minimum Qualifications
• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to establish good customer relations. Must have an ability to deal with people effectively, courteously and enthusiastically.
• Requires limited knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment typically used in recreational work and clean up duties.
• Ability to understand and follow simple, oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge of basic rules of safety and ability to enforce applicable rules and regulations.
• Requires physical strength and agility to perform assigned tasks, which include, but are not limited to, bending, twisting, walking, climbing, reaching, lifting and carrying.
• Ability to work assigned schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Additional specialized training or certifications such as camp counselor, aquatic facility operator, ServSafe certification or related experience is desirable
• Must be fluent in the English language. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.
• Applicants must complete all requirements established by the Village of Pinecrest for employment. This may include, but is not limited to, a written examination, a psychological exam, a polygraph examination, a comprehensive background investigation and a job-related medical examination including a drug/alcohol screening test.
• Must be a non-smoker.
• The minimum requirements may be waived by the Village Manager.
