Patrols assigned parking areas to issue parking citations for vehicles in violation of College parking regulations and provides a security presence on campus. Random drug testing may be required of this position. These are temporary, part-time positions; not eligible for benefits. Hours will vary based on individual's schedules and needs of the institution, up to 20 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Writes and issues citations or warnings to owners of vehicles, including bicycles, in violation of College parking procedures.
  • Locates lost, stolen and counterfeit permits and takes necessary enforcement action, as allowed in College procedures.
  • Fills out a daily log of citations/warnings issued and submits to supervisor at the end of the shift.
  • Serves as a liaison to College security officers, or other law enforcement agencies as appropriate.
  • Checks listings of vehicles to be towed upon next violation as citations are issued. Follows department procedures to initiate the towing of an automobile or the impounding of a bicycle.
  • Assists motorists periodically with such things as flat tires, keys locked in car or batter jump-starts.
  • Directs traffic, performs building checks or otherwise assists College security on an emergency basis.
  • Provides direction or other information upon request of faculty, staff, students or visitors.
  • Performs general preventative maintenance on College vehicles; such as checking oil, gasoline. Reports problems to supervisor.
  • Directs drivers of vehicles to proper parking areas, enforces special parking restrictions and/or collects parking fees for special events.
  • Performs snow removal duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of general law enforcement or security objectives. Knowledge of parking lot operations and practices. Skill in dealing with the public courteously, tactfully and fairly. Skill in carrying out detailed instructions. Skill in preparing clear and concise reports. Ability to effectively communicate in business and interpersonal settings to a wide range of customers. Ability to use a two-way radio. Ability to operate various pieces of equipment, such as U-locks, snow shovels, copier, etc. Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a valid Arizona driver's license upon employment, and six months of related experience, OR, any combination of experience, education or training as approved by the Human Resources Department.
