Plan, organize and direct the general functions and activities of designated superintendents of the City Recreation, Museum, and Library Divisions to provide facilities and programs which enhance the quality of life for the community. The Parks, Forestry, and Cemetery (PFC) Superintendent’s operational activities and priorities are routed through the Divisional Operations Coordinator. Position performs duties and assumes the responsibilities as prescribed in the City of Sterling Charter and City Code. The incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager, subject to the provisions of the City of Sterling’s Personnel Policies and Procedures manual.
- Fiscal management, including budget preparation, expenditure control, and record maintenance.
- Current management, leadership and supervisory principles and practices;
- Current and proposed legislation and laws of the local, state, and federal governments that affect the department supervised ;
- Current practices, principles, procedures, regulations, and techniques of public programs development and facilities management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Education : Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited (CHEA) college or university in one of the following disciplines: Recreation Management and/or Business/Public Administration.
Experience : Three (3) years in an exempt supervisory capacity in a municipal Parks and Recreation operation, to include significant supervisory or management responsibility.
Possession of a valid CO driver's license for the type of vehicles the position operates.
