This position is responsible for database design, implementation, maintenance, and analysis of Parks and Recreation department data utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.

Examples Of Essential Duties:

The position will also provide departmental support in the area of GIS, manage digital map layers and data files, perform medium to complex queries in databases and on GIS data, prepares digital and hardcopy maps for distribution to County staff and the general public. Other duties would include assisting the public and county staff in defining their mapping and geographic data needs, aiding in interpreting maps and map features.

Typical Qualifications:

This position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Geography, preferably GIS or related field and two years of related work experience. Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Supplemental Information:

Applicants with GIS experience in a planning context are preferred. Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of information technology as relating to GIS functions. Ability to use computer mapping system for data development, spatial analysis, conversion, editing and map production. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management and the public. Knowledge of GIS database management.

Work hours may vary to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
