To construct, repair and perform preventive maintenance on Parks and Recreation Department equipment, buildings and structures.

Essential Job Functions:
Performs carpentry work to cut, shape, assemble, install, and repair building components, including doors, cabinets, wall finishing, and furniture. Installs, repairs, and replaces roofing, floor covering, and laminated cabinet covering; prepares surfaces and applies plaster, paint or other protective coverings. Performs masonry work to install and repair brick, rock and block walls. Constructs and anchors forms for concrete work; mixes and pours concrete for projects; smoothes and levels concrete surfaces. Visits work sites and reviews work orders and sketches to estimate the amount of material needed for assigned projects; obtains bids and price quotes for estimated materials and equipment and notifies supervisor of materials needed; purchases materials upon approval of supervisor. Operates welding equipment to assemble metal components of buildings, park benches and playground equipment. Operates power tools to cut and assemble cross ties and similar wooden components for playground equipment. Operates light earth moving equipment to move or load materials; operates medium-duty dump truck to haul materials to and from work sites.

Minimum Qualifications and Additional Requirements:
These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of two (2) years of experience in building construction work of a semi-skilled nature, one (1) year of semi-skilled welding experience, and one (1) year of supervisory or lead worker experience.
