The City of Davenport Parks and Recreation Department is looking for qualified individuals to serve as interns in their Recreation division.
Examples Of Duties:
Review policies, research, and recommend and draft changes as needed; Assist in various programming initiatives (Cultural, Recreation, Environmental);
Assist department in further developing special events, youth and family programming;
Update policies of the various youth programs to be consistent and cohesive; Assist in development projects, especially fundraising initiatives;
Work with the supervisor to expand services through the Roosevelt Community Center, Duck Creek Lodge, and Junior Theatre..
Attend monthly recreation meetings, management staff meetings, and at least one Park and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, City Council meeting and one City Council Committee meeting w/ a Park and Recreation Agenda item listed.
Investigate and report on other Quad City agencies that offer similar programming.
Spend a minimum of one work day with each operating division within the Park and Recreation Department
Interns will be expected to learn the operation of our front desk (registrations, reservations, and general questions) and fill in at the front desk as needed.
Assigned a project that he/she will be responsible for from its inception to its completion.
Undergraduate or Graduate student
Majors Accepted: Parks & Recreation, Business, Education, Physical Education, Marketing, Communications, or related fields.
GPA: 3.0 above on 4 point scale
Valid Driver's License
Pass a background screening
Knowledge and Skills:
Considerable knowledge of interaction with children, adults, seniors and people with special needs on a positive basis.
Working skill in current trends in recreation.
Working skill in Microsoft office applications.
Some Publishing experience preferred.
