Use your skills and experience at Timberland Charter Academy to educate students backed by a national network of stellar instructional coaches, results driven curriculum and a community of educators committed to tracking results and challenging each child to achieve.
New to the field or teaching for years, NHA can help you to develop as an educator and ensure that you are one of the best at driving instruction with consistency and attention to the needs of every child in your classroom. Simply put, NHA is all about helping you thrive as a teacher.
Each NHA school is a special part of the community it serves, and also part of a larger network of 76 schools nationwide. Below are some of the features that make Timberland the place to continue your career in teaching:
• Student Impact: Timberland dedicates itself to prepare its students for higher education. We do this by instilling a strong moral code of conduct, establishing good work habits, assessing student knowledge, measuring performance and growth and providing individualized instruction. It is the combination of all the above activities that allow us to be successful in impacting student lives.
• School Leadership: At Timberland, a cohesive administrative team will support you. Deans avail themselves to provide teachers assistance with lesson plans, classroom management, professional development and instruction and this is done minimally on a weekly basis.
• School Culture: You do not work independently at Timberland, but are part of a team that meets weekly to discuss lesson planning and ensure that the students are achieving their learning objectives. The school provides a safe and secure environment for the students and staff alike, thus creating a real community feel that parents are a part of on a daily basis.
The Academic Specialist at Timberland Charter Academy creates, manages and participates in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for at-risk students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. The teacher participates collaboratively and professionally with parents and other staff to promote the general well-being of the company and the school. He/she supports and seeks always to fulfill the guiding concepts for the school embodied in the Mission, Moral Focus and Vision adopted by NHA.
The Academic Specialist provides instructional support services to students who are identified as eligible for intervention services through the use of assessments and eligibility criteria set by the school. Collaborating with classroom teachers will be necessary to create and execute the Individual Student Intervention Plan for Success. The teacher will serve as a conduit for communication to the at-risk students’ parents by providing regular, clear and understandable progress reports on intervention services being provided. Candidates should be self-starters with effective classroom management skills, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for education. Depending on licensure and experience, this person will work with elementary students in areas of reading and language arts.
All qualified candidates must have a valid State of Michigan teaching certificate that span grades K-12. Candidates who have had experience working with students in an at-risk environment are strongly preferred.
