Serves as initial information point of contact for students seeking advice on programs and course selection for both credit and non-credit offerings in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Gather information about the type of experience prospective students are looking for, past academic and professional history, and provide recommendations accordingly. Also refer students to other support areas at FIT as needed.
Provide course and program recommendations with the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) based upon discussions with students and potential students, either through walk in meetings, phone calls or email inquiries. Must be knowledgeable about all SCPS courses and stay current regarding all programs, courses, registration procedures as they are created or revised. Must develop strong working relationships with SCPS colleagues, and other support offices and various student services throughout FIT. Assist in tracking student Certificate Program status, managing non-credit certificate affidavits and generating the awarding of Certificates. Register students and troubleshoot registration issues, as needed. Respond to phone and other inquiries. This is a general description and is not be construed as all inclusive.
Bachelor's degree and two years appropriate experience; or Associates degree and four years of appropriate experience. Experience interacting with students in a college or university setting; organizing and implementing office procedures and systems; and working with diverse groups of people. Experience working independently using own initiative. Demonstrate above average customer service skills and can address inquiries professionally. Should possess an understanding of Continuing Education programs. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Outlook and Word. Experience with Banner or other student management systems preferred.
25 hours per week
Monday-Thursday: 2:00 pm-7:00 pm.
Schedule subject to change based on needs of the Department.
