Citizen Action of New York is a statewide grassroots membership organization that fights for social, racial, environmental and economic justice. We work at the grassroots to give people a sense of their own power. We collaborate with organizations and coalitions in communities throughout New York to win on key issues and elect progressive candidates at the local, state and federal levels.
Citizen Action of New York is seeking a part time Database Administrator to serve as the primary database administrator and technical support resource for the organization and its affiliates. The primary responsibility of the administrator will be maintaining the three separate databases we utilize, providing structural support for online membership database and also providing general technical support for our staff in our six different offices.
Manage our online databases, including CiviCRM, Salsa, and VAN
Train staff on database system and provide troubleshooting
Develop custom queries and reports to provide information to staff
Develop process to share and sync data between all systems
Manage offsite backup and data retrieval
Manage and conduct list enhancement for organizers/canvassers (Voter Files, Catalist, etc.)
Develop and document operating procedures
Manage email system, Google Apps, Dropbox cloud
Provide support to staff (in Albany/NYC and via phone to our other 5 offices) on variety of desktop applications in Microsoft Office, Dropbox, etc.
An ideal candidate will have the following qualifications
strong database administration skills, including advanced query design, list management and membership management. Knowledge of SQL, familiarity with CiviCRM, Salsa, VAN preferred.
experience with providing technical support via phone
capable of working from home and providing 24/7 troubleshooting/technical support
experience working with a nonprofit organization
commitment to progressive change and movement-building
willingness to work irregular hours - job is part-time, but technical support could required after hours and weekends
willingness to travel occassionally
