This is a part-time position of approximately 27 hours a week with expected seasonal variations, located at the College farm, west of the Emmetsburg campus. Primary responsibilities are to perform all duties related to the swine enterprise (breeding, farrow to finish, records), assist with cattle chores and fieldwork – planting and harvest of various plots and delivery of grain. Includes some evening, weekend and holiday work, general farm maintenance and interaction with students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (% OF TIME)
Perform daily duties required in the swine enterprise of the College Farm, including feeding, cleaning, vaccinating, weighing, monitoring environment, monitoring health, adjusting water heights, and room temperature controls, shipping, record-keeping and recommending materials and supplies.
Perform farrowing chores: assist sows at parturition, process newborn pigs, remove stillborn pigs and afterbirth, weigh litters, wean, etc.
Perform heat detection, A.I. and pregnancy testing of sow herd.
Maintain records for the swine enterprise, to include breeding, farrowing, nursery, sales, medical,...
Must maintain biosecurity; must not work with own or other pigs.
Work with Director of Agricultural Technologies, instructors and students.
Recommend feed and supplies.
Schedule and/or perform maintenance on facilities and equipment.
Assist with cattle chores.
Assist in planning with other farm employees and instructors for the farm operation.
Assist in the planting, harvesting and storage of grain, etc.
Work as a team member to ensure that the farm enterprises are efficiently and safely operated.
Be responsible for weekend and holiday chores on a rotational basis.
Assume duties of other employees during their absence.

Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying, and repetitive motion occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, and grasping frequently (34-66%).
