Provides Physicians Regional Medical Center and Physicians Regional Medical Group along with the patient with accurate information regarding any insurance benefits and pre-cert/authorization requirements to ensure timely payment of claims. This position sees a high volume of phone scheduling, outpatient procedures, including radiology, nutrition services, and cardiology exams. Radiology front desk duties include: verification of patient demographics, radiology charge entry and releasing of patient medical records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : ICD-9 / CPT-4 coding knowledge, Insurance verification, authorization and precertification knowledge. Experience working in a Radiology Department and knowledge of radiology exams regarding the prep involved for the exam.
REQUIRED LENGTH AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE : Minimum one-year medical office experience, or combination of extensive customer service work environment. Education in insurance verification, patient registration, and medical terminology. Externships may be applied as work experience. Experience utilizing computer-based patient information management systems is preferred.
