Responsible for entering patient information into the computer for patient admissions. Retrieves insurance information, secures signatures as needed. Greets, instructs patients and visitors to areas of service within the hospital. Answers the telephone and directs calls. Employee is expected to provide excellent customer service consistent with the established guidelines and goals.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Clerical and computer experience preferred.
Other: Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical, numerical or color-coded system. Must display initiative and willingness to accept additional duties in the front office area during absences and adapt to fluctuating workload. Must be able to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public. Must be computer literate and able to type.
