Position Summary:
The Patient Account Representative, in accordance with Patient Centered Medical Home principles, ensures efficient and accurate collection and verification of patient demographic and financial information, and collects payments and provides financial counseling according to BCHC Policies and Procedures. The Patient Account Representative professionally and respectfully interacts with all patients and their representatives to accurately complete patient registration and financial assessment, serve as patient financial counselor, cashier, and medical coding reviewer, support the patient billing functions of the Clinic, and ensure the effective operations of the department by performing all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED is required.

Minimum Experience Qualifications:
  • Three years of directly related work experience is required. The position requires an understanding and knowledge of: - electronic health information systems - electronic information & health care management - medical terminology - third party payer reimbursement - primary care clinical operations, policies & procedures Requires the ability to determine a technical course of action and modify existing procedures and methods based upon interpretation of general policies and procedures.
Qualification Equivalencies:
Education can substitute for experience but experience cannot substitute for education

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate Degree (or completion of 60 hours of college course work) in Health Administration or related field is preferred. - Certified Professional Coder preferred - Prefer work experience within a federally-funded clinic setting.
