Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Patient Account Specialist II is responsible for managing patient account from pre-registration process through the registration process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the accurate collection of patient demographic and insurance information, data entry into the Meditech/Mediserve systems. Verifies all insurance information and obtains the appropriate authorizations. Completion of patient charts as directed; management of insurance verification and precertification processes to include all insurances as required. Financial counseling activities and cash collection; perform daily audits to ensure quality data collection for generation of initial bill. . Provides Financial Assistance program information, referral to revenue Audit as needed and schedule patient for initial evaluation. Other duties include training other clerical staff in supporting registration and cash collection functions, back up of all areas and maintaining a working knowledge of all department clerical functions.
Education: High School graduate or equivalent, college attendance preferred.
Experience: Three years experience as a PAS.
