Position Summary:
The patient advocate functions as the customer service liaison between the patient and SEARHC to help ensure that every patient receives the highest quality care and to improve customer satisfaction with care. Responsible for maintaining productive communication links with patients and their families. Assists patients and family members to successfully utilize the health care system. Is responsible for receiving complaints, concerns and compliments through a variety of sources i.e., (telephone, email, mail or in person) support in the resolution of concerns and complaints. Maintains the internal report card system, reporting, and follows up on results. Is part of the Social Services Department and helps support its many functions.

Baseline Qualification Requirements:
* A Bachelors degree in a relevant field (Behavior Health Science, Human Services, Sociology, Psychology, Social Services, Communication, Human or Organizational Development, Customer Service) or equivalent years of experience in healthcare or related field.

Other:
* One year experience in a health care field that included interaction with patients and providers, or one semester undergraduate field placement in same. Knowledge or course in medical terminology.
