The incumbent in this position is responsible for making telephone contact with patients within 24-48 hours after discharge to evaluate patient education, identify trends that may require improvement in practice, improve patient quality of care, assess patients' compliance with discharge instructions, obtain information regarding patients' overall impressions of hospital performance, and improve patient satisfaction. These functions are integral in achieving excellent patient care outcomes in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.

Required Education/Training:
BSN; graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.

Current DC license as a Registered Professional Nurse.

Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of acute care clinical experience as a registered nurse. 2 years' experience at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital preferred.

Advanced interpersonal and communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Strong computer skills are required.

The position requires independent decision making and systems thinking.

The candidate should demonstrate critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to function as an integral part of the team effort to promote quality patient care.
