The Patient Care Technician carries out non-nursing care based on the recovery model. As a direct care staff, the incumbent spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Along with ensuring a safe environment, he or she develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship which is critical in the healing process. The Patient Care Technician transports, lifts and positions patients. He/she also transports articles between departments and intra-departmentally. The PCT is responsible for mopping, cleaning, including the O.R. table, and removing trash and linen between cases. The PCT keeps the scrub up areas and alcoves clean and stocked. The PCT may shave patients and give other direct patient care as directed and supervised by the Registered Nurse. The Patient Care Technician assists the patients in maximizing independence in self care. The person in this position works under general supervision, is responsible for various shifts, may be subject to over 40 hours per week and/or callback as required, and may also be required to remain on campus immediately before, during and after severe weather and/or disasters.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR JOB: High school graduate/GED Certification Basic Life Support at least at the Heart Saver Level Ability to communicate effectively 1 yr experience preferred
