Performs all inpatient transports as well as admissions, discharges, and morgue calls.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Good reading/writing skills. Basic CPR within 6-months of hire date.
Patient care or other healthcare experience. Nursing assistance experience. Experience working with the public. Good communication skills.

Department Position Summary:
The Patient Care Transporter in the Central Transport Department is responsible for the transportation of inpatients within Erlanger Health System. The Patient Care Transporter plays a very important role in setting high standards by cooperation, patience, communication and willingness to work as a team with nursing and medical staff and all other hospital departments. The Patient Care Transporter must demonstrate initiative, cooperation, flexibility and resourcefulness to enhance patient care. Good communication skills are required in dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and all hospital personnel. The Patient Care Transporter must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the performance evaluation. It will be necessary to be able to organize multiple priorities and make independent decisions. The Patient Care Transporter must be committed to continuing education to upgrade skills. Regular exposure to communicable disease or injury is unavoidable.
