High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
1 year experience in medical billing, reimbursement environment or insurance background preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as explanation of benefits (EOB), operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of medical and insurance/reimbursement coding, terminology, and practices. Ability to interview people to obtain basic information (including via telephone).
Ability to write correspondence.

The Patient Registrar will ensure the efficient, customer service oriented operations of the patient intake process. This position is responsible for performing a variety of front desk related tasks. The Patient Registrar will process new and return patient registrations, update demographic and insurance data of established patients, verify insurance benefits and eligibility for timely reimbursement, answer the telephone, arrive patients in the scheduling computer system, and obtain signatures on all required documents. Work also includes handling cash, receiving multiple types of payments (co pays, time of service, and on account), producing receipts, and balancing monies at the end of the day.
