Job Title: Paver Operator Reports To: Foreman FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Cheyenne, WY Prepared By/Date: Human Resources 2/20/13 Approved By/Date: Doug Harms 3/20/13 Summary: Operates an asphalt paver for highways, subdivisions, streets, and large patches. Direct trucks into hopper. Has strong knowledge of screed operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Operates asphalt paver and understand all operations and functions of the paver and grade control. Assist with layout, distributor and labor when required. Maintain a safe working environment for all activities on project Provide minor equipment maintenance inspections such as daily cleaning, greasing, checking oil, transmission fluid and water. Perform minor repairs. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and at least two years of experience required. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Math Ability: Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several variables. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed. Certificates and Licenses: Valid Driver’s license and clean driving history. CDL-A or ability to obtain within 60 days preferred. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has some supervisory responsibilities for support personnel around equipment.
