The Payor Marketing Lead is responsible for the launch of MM-398 to payors and accompanying collateral to support the field force and patient services. MM-398 is a novel therapy being developed for pancreatic cancer with other indications possible later. The person taking on this role will collaborate with Marketing and other Merrimack colleagues, as well as a creative agency to lead the design and execution of the payor marketing strategy, value proposition and tactics. This is a unique opportunity as it is integral to the commercial launch of Merrimack and its first products.
This position will focus primarily on the US market while collaborating with individual country leads globally.
Work with cross-functional partners to develop a comprehensive payor strategy that is aligned to the objectives of the brand and company
Manage agency and vendor relationships to develop promotional programs and tactics
Lead development of a clear, compelling and differentiating payor value proposition for MM-398
Tailor the company’s value proposition to payor-types
Design and conduct research with key customer segments to aid in the development of a sound strategy and value proposition
Collaborate with Analytics, and field force to maintain an informative and actionable payor landscape analysis to map out the potential payor mix, key insights, market dynamics, and anticipate the evolving payor response to MM-398
Contribute to the pricing research methodology and serve as a member of the pricing team
Work collaboratively with the Account Management team on message and tool development
Periodically train the Account Management team on the payor strategy, messages and tactics, and be a valued and responsive resource in the interim
Spend time in the field with payors and the Account Management team to be on the front line of understanding internal and external customers
Measure marketing plan implementation and optimize approach given market feedback
Collaborate with individual country leads by sharing foundational launch materials and training local teams to ensure smooth and consistent transfer of global strategy
Effectively manage budgets and project timelines
Be willing to work on projects unrelated to Marketing as the need arises
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other related graduate-level degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of payor marketing experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
In addition to experience in Payor Marketing, it is a plus to have held past roles in Brand Marketing, Account Management and/or Sales
Analytical skills including experience in designing and conducting market research, solving business problems
Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a lean organization partnering with cross-functional colleagues
Results oriented with excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and on teams
Travel is expected to be approximately ~20%, but may vary based on business needs
