The Payroll Applications Analyst will assist both the Operations and Development teams by bridging the communication gap between these core teams. A primary responsibility of this position is to screen software bugs reported either internally or by our clients to ensure our system is acting as designed. The Payroll Applications Analyst will log the results of what is happening with each reported bug as well as the desired solution utilizing our Issue Manager software. It is the responsibility of this position to work with key team members throughout the organization to identify the ideal behavior for these fixes as well as to identify and communicate the urgency of these issues. The ideal candidate must be skilled in interviewing others to get their opinions as well as comfortable communicating his/her opinion of the required resolution and its priority to senior management.
Performance Objectives/Job Duties
Work with the VP of Operations on a weekly basis to prioritize maintenance activities based on the above activity.
Work with VP of Operations on a monthly basis to prioritize the release fixes necessary for major software releases. Communicate results of these meetings with the Developer Maintenance Management team and determine estimated completion dates for each project.
Communicate monthly maintenance activities to core internal groups so they may develop training materials as well as communicate fixes to clients and/or employees. The ability to direct client communication of issues is also necessary on occasion.
Lead knowledge transfer sessions throughout the organization communicating software changes or new release functionality.
Gather feedback from clients, partners and internal staff regarding future functionality requests.
Serve as software support expert by troubleshooting data issues to determine whether they are the result of software glitches or bad data elements. Offer suggestions for improvement based on the results of this analysis.
Manage the maintenance prioritization and requests in ITS.
Handle issues escalated outside of ITS.
Work with software development to have issues addressed in future releases.
All other projects as assigned.
Knowledge of payroll/HRIS applications is required to investigate potential issues.
Organizational skills are necessary for tracking and evaluating solutions to software enhancements or bugs and prioritizing initiatives for the software development team.
Must be passionate about learning new software.
Ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of SDLC (GAC patches, hot fixes, agile and stable development).
The person must be detail oriented to identify potential risks to solutions during the requirements phase as well as when documenting steps necessary to recreate a problem during testing phases.
Must have previous experience providing software support.
Better than average problem solving skills.
Beginner/Intermediate SQL skills desired.
Intermediate Excel skills required.
Experience communicating with a broad set of users with differing needs.
Must have above average communication skills and display confidence when providing opinions to software development and senior management. Cannot be intimidated working with strong minded individuals who aren’t afraid to speak their mind!
