Under general supervision, the Payroll Specialist reviews, inputs, and processes new and updated personnel data for staff, faculty, and students in assigned departments (such as annual salary and hourly rates, FTE, labor distribution, tax withholdings, payroll deductions, hours worked). This position coordinates the final processing of assigned payroll(s). This position provides assistance to the university community by answering payroll related questions and resolving issues. The Payroll Specialist researches and takes corrective action with payroll issues. This position provides some general administrative support which includes maintain files, sorting and distributing paycheck sand mail, and assisting with receptionist duties.
HS Diploma or equivalent
Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.
Experience in accounting or payroll processing.
May substitute additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis in lieu of the experience requirement.
