The Madison Clinic for Pediatric Diabetes at UCSF will provide state of the art care for children and young adults with diabetes through individualized and comprehensive management with emphasis on education, outreach, and the use of advanced technologies, as well as a commitment to advancing research to help generate new treatments to improve the quality of life for our young patients.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Madison Clinic for Pediatric Diabetes, the Pediatric Diabetes Nurse Educator/Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for diabetes care and education of children with diabetes and their families. This includes acting in a case manager role by overseeing a caseload of patients, coordinating care with the multidisciplinary team, leading dyad pre-clinic huddle with MD counterpart, seeing patients and their families as a diabetes educator until able to bill as a credentialed provider, and working with pediatric endocrinologist fellows. The incumbent will also perform other related duties as assigned.

• RN Certificate.
• Pediatric NP or Family NP.
• Certified Diabetes Educator or ability to sit for the exam within 18 months of hire.
• CPR certified.
• Prior experience in pediatric diabetes.
• Proficiency in English, spoken and written.
• Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills for patients and families across all developmental levels.
• Critical analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate well with others, and work as a team member.
Physical Demands: requires sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, waist twisting, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs/ladders, reaching up to shoulder height, lifting up to 20 lbs., lifting up to 10 lbs. overhead and above waist, lifting up to 20 lbs. below waist, carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs., fine finger manipulation, gross manipulation, simple/power grasp, repetitive movements of upper extremities; may be exposed to loud noise, dust, chemicals or toxic substances, latex; ability to differentiate color, use of protective equipment.
