West Virginia University Department of Pediatrics is seeking board eligible/certified applicants for a faculty position within the Division of General Pediatrics to provide patient care and clinical teaching in the pediatric outpatient clinic. Applicants should have interest or skills in the evaluation of childhood sexual abuse and community involvement in related child abuse activities. Abuse-related activities account for about one fifth of overall work time; training and supervision in child sexual abuse evaluation will be provided by the institution. In addition to general pediatric care, there are opportunities to use or develop skills in the areas of adolescent medicine and child abuse. Responsibilities include teaching of residents and medical students and providing excellent patient care.Â Academic experience is welcomed but not required. Scholarly activity is highly encouraged and opportunities are available for those interested in clinical/educational/basic research.
In collaboration with WVU Children's Hospital, which serves as the premiere site of pediatric care within West Virginia and the surrounding region, the Department of Pediatrics houses the largest group of primary care and specialty care physicians and surgeons dedicated to the care of children and adolescents in the state. The WVU School of Medicine is celebrating 50 years of accredited graduate medical education programs and WVU has recently received state appropriations to create a School of Public Health.
