Assist perception lab manager during preparation for quarterly test events by coordinating with military unit assigned to support the test, coordinate the test week schedule of events, load and test experiments, and test new software interfaces.
Assist perception lab manager in administering and monitoring human perception experiments.
Complete CITI Protection of Human Research Subject training (self-paced on-line training).
Maintain computer hardware in Human Perception Laboratory and work with NVESD Network Services branch to ensure consistent configuration control and compliance with NVESD IT standards. Recommend hardware upgrades as appropriate.
Measure and calibrate CRT and LCD computer displays prior to quarterly test events using SpectraCal software and spectrometer.
Work with senior software programmer to become proficient in Visual Basic-based software interface in order to assist with software design, add new functionality, test, and troubleshoot standard programs.
Update, maintain, and/or troubleshoot databases to track experiments, results, and observer records.
Participate in field data collection which may require a limited amount of travel.
- Candidate must be proficient in Visual Basic or in a comparable software language and be willing to learn Visual Basic.
- Candidate must be able to practice hardware and software configuration control to maintain a common experimental test set up across all computers in the Human Perception Laboratory.
- Candidate must have the organizational skills required to maintain records of computer configuration, display calibration, and test administration.
- Candidate must exhibit leadership in order to independently lead a group of Soldiers through a scheduled week of perception experimentation, demonstrations, and training sessions.
