Scope of Position:
The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts, Strategic Initiatives and Warehouse Operations at the plant. The position will establish, maintain and execute a strategic business plan with the goals of reducing operating cost and enhancing business and production efficiency and product reliability. In addition, the position will oversee Warehouse and Material Management logistics with the goals of maintaining robust operations, ensuring efficient material flow and inventory control and efficient distribution.
The role uses Lean tools, quality metrics and operations metrics to identify savings opportunities for the plant to work collaboratively with other site functional departments to realize those savings and to track progress/success to plan.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Leads strategic planning for the continuous improvement and cost reduction programs and maintains a 5 year CIStrategic Plan. Prepares the annual CI savings plan, integrates into budget, and monitors results against the plan. Collaborates with other functional departments (Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Finance) to identify and execute projects to realize the Strategic Business Plan. Responsible for the planning and implementation of cost reduction programs, waste reduction, quality improvement and productivity improvement programs. As required, these will be coordinated with cross functional groups, both internal as well as external. Works closely with the Plant Manager and the Plant Leadership team to plan, prepare and recommend an annual operating plan (AOP). Partners with local Finance to monitor plant performance to budget and to identify opportunities and/or contingencies. Periodically visits customer locations for the purpose of understanding all product use and identifying opportunities to enhance our service and quality levels to the customer through improved manufacturing processes. Oversees the education, training, and utilization of Lean and Six Sigma tools at the plant. Through subordinate subject matter experts, directs the implementation of Lean programs at the plant including 20 Keys, Six Sigma, Primary Visual Displays, HR2and Employee Training. Acts as the site champion for Lean systems knowledge growth and adoption. Acts as a change agent by providing coaching at all levels within the organization regarding the CI philosophy and culture, and its alignment with site visions, values, and objectives. Directs departmental resources in the completion of CI projects and the validation of savings for all projects. Tracks and monitors improvements implemented during blitzes and/or Six-Sigma projects for an appropriate time period to determine performance to expectations, as well as to establish if additional opportunities exist Oversees the site Material Management functions including material planning, procurement, receipt, incoming inspection, warehousing, and inventory control. Collaborates with Engineering and Quality Assurance for the proper management of material specifications and incoming inspection procedures. Collaborates with Operations for the proper management of raw material, WIP and finished goods inventory and the proper execution of material tracking and movement. Collaborates with Operations and Finance to address material variance issues. Determines and recommends use of ERP flow metrics and other processes to drive improvements in operational efficiencies.
Some international travel related to project activities.

BS Engineering Masters of Business Administration preferred
Required Years and Area of Experience:
5-7 years of process engineering and/or production management experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
Thorough knowledge of direct cost systems, quality control, management principles and practices, manufacturing processes, equipment and scheduling, associate relations, purchasing and inventory control methods. Demonstrated experience and interpersonal skills to manage, mentor, direct and develop science, technology, and engineering professionals in the execution of business initiatives. Must be technically capable, demonstrate business acumen and possess general business savvy. Ideal candidate has a broad knowledge base in high volume manufacturing operations, preferably in medical device manufacturing with past experiences in project management and improvements to manufacturing and logistics processes. Examples of beneficial skills and experiences are: Industrial Engineering and process improvements Process Engineering and process development experience Process Validation and Statistical Analysis Operations Management and Production Control Logistics ERP systems and functions Project Management experience Quality Management System knowledge including regulatory requirements for medical device manufacturing (cGMP and ISO) Business Finance
Experience with computer software applications including Microsoft Office, Visio, MS Project. Preferred experience with Minitab and ERP system. Significant knowledge of federal state or local mandates including, but not restricted to, FDA, EEOC, OSHA, EPA, local zoning or building codes, etc.
