Serve as a change agent for the organization by managing HCMC’s Performance Improvement initiatives, including project scope definition, cross-functional resource allocation, timelines and reporting. This position works directly with the Performance Excellence Manager and collaborates with assigned area staff and leadership to identify barriers and develop tactical plans to address.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Work

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Clinical

Operations

3+ years of experience with process improvement/project management in

hospital and/or ambulatory care delivery including financial processes

Or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/

Skills/Abilities

Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA, and other process improvement

methodologies and tools, change management and creative problem-solving

with an ongoing desire to learn.

System thinking and understanding of the interdependencies across functional

departments and clinical service lines.

Ability to analyze, distill and display data and draw conclusions.

Flexibility, responsiveness and ability to engender trust at all levels.

Team building skills.

Attention to detail and deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Clinical

Operations

Responsibilities:

Work in collaboration with Department Manager/Director to identify, prioritize, plan, and execute improvement projects in assigned area.

Develop cross-functional performance improvement project plans in response to observed workflow issues and problems identified by organizational leadership and/or frontline staff.

Lead project teams in completing assigned projects within established timelines.

Translate project objectives and improvement plans in a meaningful way to foster diverse crossfunctional team members’ understanding and support.

Develop and educate others on use of project tracking tools for stakeholder reporting and monitoring sustainment of successful changes.

Manage and respond to changing priorities, staff readiness and leadership directives adjusting project plans as needed to continue progress toward objectives.

Continuously improve knowledge and application of process improvement and change management tools through best practice research and coordination with Lean event and other PI initiatives across the organization.

Participate in assessment of improvement opportunities and selection of projects.

Advance organizational learning by using and teaching others to use Lean tools and techniques, PDSA, change management and other process improvement methods/practices.

Concurrently manage multiple initiatives and timelines, from process redesign to incremental phased improvement.

Promote best practice sharing and cross participation within the organization.
