Purpose A Perl Web Developer primarily develops, enhances and maintains code specific to web applications and software tools that are utilized by national associations and agencies of higher education, colleges and universities as well as students.

  • Create new web applications leveraging Perl (using Catalyst), and other open source technologies
  • Enhance and extending our existing public-facing global web applications and work on our next generation frameworks/applications
  • Develop standardized modules and tools to speed time-to-market of our applications
  • Assist in BI (Data Analytics and Reporting) against our MS SQL Server databases
  • Participate in research on newer cloud-based technologies for use in our environment
  • Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
    • Perl Web Applications Development Experience
    • Experience with Catalyst Framework Preferred
    • At least 1-3 years of MVC-based web application development experience using ORM like DBIx:: Class
    • Solid SQL experience; Experience with MS SQL Server preferred
    • Experience with the Apache/Linux environment (LAMP development experience a plus)
    • Working knowledge/experience with HTML/Javascript/CSS (experience with AJAX and Javascript libraries such as JQuery is a plus)
    • Understanding of source control systems and best practices (Subversion or Git a plus)
    • Experience working in a client-facing application development environment
