The Personal Banker role is available and accessible to meet the needs of customers. Personal Bankers provide a high level of customer service and ensure they not only meet the immediate needs of customers but also anticipate and act on future needs. Through all their customer contacts they proactively identify needs, offer financial solutions and ask for the business. They are knowledgeable about the products and services offered by First Citizens and proactively identify opportunities to refer customers to their branch/market colleagues and across lines of business. They act in a pivotal role within the branch ensuring the lending and deposit needs of customers are met and customers have the appropriate mix of products and services to fully meet their financial needs. They operate within their lending authorities, referring complex lending to the RSM or RM. They have personal accountability for ensuring they adhere to bank policy as well as Federal and State regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
Sales and Sales Management
• Expands and retains relationships with existing customers by selling and referring a full range of bank products and services
• Expands and retains relationships with existing customers by selling and referring consumer lending products
• Is the primary associate responsible for walk in sales opportunities
• Is available for more complex customer servicing issues not able to be resolved by the Teller Leader or Tellers
• Demonstrates advanced sales and service skills and behaviors
• Achieves personal sales targets by effectively executing on tactics and routines
• Provides financial advice by having conversations with customers to understand their needs, uncovering current and future opportunities, and recommending a full range of product and service solutions (Event Based Calling)
• Uses Synapse as a contact management tool, sourcing proactive contact opportunities, preparing for the conversation and documenting next steps from the interaction
• Uses Sales Profile in Encore to document information learned about the customer during needs based conversations
• Uses self analysis techniques to assess opportunities to improve personal quantity and quality of customer contacts
• Openly asks for coaching support and shares successes of performance with others
• May fulfill on deposit accounts sold by other associates
Operations/Risk
• Operates within all delegated authorities for lending limits, fee reductions and deposit pricing
• Adheres to new account opening policies and procedures
• Collects all fees as per bank policy, keeping exceptions to minimum
• Complies with all operational policies, procedures and compliance requirements
• Accurately completes documentation for all products and services minimizing exceptions to reduce customer impact
• Reviews NSF/Overdraft reporting, CIP Exception List, Missing Signature Card Report, and the Safe Deposit Box Income/Rent past due report ensuring appropriate and timely action is taken
• Performs a variety of defined and ambiguous tasks using some well established procedures
• Possesses knowledge of more complex work processes where the emphasis is on practical application and anticipation of gaps
• Applies judgment in a variety of situations
• Completes annual Privacy, Bank Secrecy Act and Anti Money Laundering training and assessments and adheres to all policies and practices contained within
• Adheres to all bank policies and regulatory requirements
Customer Service
• Follows the Customers First guidelines and maintains satisfactory survey results
• Completes timely and accurate maintenance for accounts
• Proactively anticipates and resolves customer complaints
• Contacts customer regularly to ensure satisfaction with products and service
• Follows through on all customer requests ensuring time commitments are kept and customer expectations are met
• Researches and resolves customer’s questions/problems quickly and efficiently
• Prioritizes customer interactions to ensure the most effective use of time and resources
Teamwork
• Attends and participates in branch and Bank meetings to include sales meetings and daily group huddles
• Routinely makes and asks for qualified referrals to other business partners
• Maintains a positive working relationship within branch, between branches and with home office associates
• Is always willing to assist other associates with opening and closing of branch, back up RSM and other duties as required
• Shares best practices within branch, market, division and bank to build success
• Shares opportunities with RSM to provided recognition or reward to all associates
• Demonstrates the organizations values
Position Requirements:
• Ability to explain product concepts clearly and confidently to customers
• Proven successful sales record
• Experience in sales relationship development for establishing rapport and negotiating
• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
• Computer skills to include Microsoft Windows
