ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Expand customer base through technical knowledge of retail services, product and selling techniques.
Possess in-depth knowledge of retail services and products; successfully complete product knowledge and sales training to effectively cross-sell bank products and services; develop a general knowledge of business, banking and current economic/market conditions.
Establish rapport with customer base through techniques such as customer identification by name, customer greeting, smile, handshake, introduction and thanking them for their business.
Understand competitor bank products and services and understands the advantages of First Interstate Bank.
Recognize selling opportunities and effectively cross-sells bank products and services; effectively closes the sale.
Follow up on sales opportunities/prospects/refers prospect to appropriate department, such as Trust, Commercial Loan, Investments, etc.
Listen effectively and understand non-verbal communication skills.
Participate in pre-qualified or cold call telephone sales, develop effective telephone skills and satisfactorily handle all telephone inquiries.
Provide superior customer service and complaint resolutions, follow up on complaints and insure customer satisfaction.
Prioritize multiple customer demands to provide maximum service levels to all customers.
Learn to effectively say “no” in a courteous and concerned manner.
Process all financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner; open all types of new deposit accounts.
Possess knowledge of individual credit product criteria; review/evaluate credit applications for completeness and credit worthiness; operate credit terminal; analyze/interpret consumer reports; complete loan and supporting collateral documents; follow through with collateral exceptions; disburse loan proceeds; develop an awareness of loan monitoring and collection procedures.
Maintain audit, regulatory, and security standards.
Adhere to Bank Policies and Procedures.
Report suspicious transactions, activity or situations to appropriate personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and/or equivalent job experience. Previous banking experience preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Basic math proficiency and aptitude. Demonstrate aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships. Ability to sell products and services. Good telephone etiquette. Ability to meet and deal with the public and co-workers in a friendly, professional manner. Professional grooming and adherence to FIB dress code required.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively respond to questions from co-workers, customers and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
