Provides a full complement of sales and service expertise to both current and new customers through the sales of consumer loans, deposit and other retail and financial service products. Participate in the development of new customer relationships and enhances existing relationships through a variety of traditional and innovative techniques as appropriate. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Customer Service and Sales – provide excellent customer service and increase bank deposits and loans by utilizing First Interstate Bank’s Customer Service and Sales strategies.
Develops and maintains in-depth knowledge of the bank’s products and services.
Follow up with the customer via telephone or written correspondence after the encounter to answer any additional questions the customer may have about the Banks products and services.
Emphasis on contacting existing VIP customers both by phone and when appropriate out of the Bank.
Open and close all types of accounts. These include savings, demand deposit accounts, certificates of deposit and individual retirement accounts.
Evaluate and refer potential residential mortgage, commercial and investment customers to the appropriate First Interstate Representative.
Assist with reviewing deposit accounts to insure that they are in compliance with bank regulations.
Have a working knowledge of all Cash Management products and services. Assist existing and potential Cash Management customers.
May counsel and assist potential consumer loan customer in applying for a loan. This includes finding the right product, taking the loan application, and preparing documents for signing and disbursing the loan proceeds. May include decisioning loan requests within established lending limits.
Process all financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner, accepts deposits and loan payments.
Cross train with Teller Department.
Performs other banking duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education (GED); one to three years retail sales experience. Prior banking and/or financial services experience preferred, would be beneficial. Must have a minimum of six (6) month cash handling experience as a teller or as a cashier in a retail store.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
This position requires demonstrated social skills ability to adjust to flexible hours and professional grooming and adherence to FIB dress code. Requires good phone etiquette and the ability to handle difficult situations in a tactful manner. Must be customer service oriented. Demonstrated aptitude to handle sensitive operational transactions and customer relationships; professional appearance; demonstrated social skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; self-sufficient; ability to sell products and services. Ability to interact as a member of a team. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Financial acumen. Word processing knowledge helpful. Product knowledge (Lines of credit/loans/credit cards/deposit products/financial products and other products as needed). Working knowledge of banking network and delivery system.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-to-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability of add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
