This position is located at Harnett Correctional Institution and performs all personnel administrative functions at a medium custody correctional institution employing 250+ staff. This position will assist in the daily operation of the Human Resources office. Major responsibilities include administration and processing of employee benefits such as voluntary shared leave, family medical leave, leave without pay, workers compensation, retirement, disability, and insurance coverage. This position is also responsible for the preparation of employee separation packages as well as employment hiring packages. Responsibilities also include entering, maintaining, and ensuring accuracy of all employee time. Must possess good working knowledge of office procedures and ability to efficiently operate a personal computer. Must possess good verbal and written skills. Must be able to work under stressful conditions caused by constant deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Effectively communicate with other staff and the general public in verbal and written form. Comprehend and abide by policies, procedures, and directives, both written and verbal, affecting job duties. Perform clerical functions to include logging, tracking and compiling various statistical information and reports. Review completed tasks to ensure accuracy and integrity of information. Good knowledge and understanding of departmental personnel policies and procedures.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledges, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
