Participates in the development, building, implementation and on-going maintenance of pharmacy-related applications and clinical information systems, primarily Meditech and Computerized Physician Order Entry. Analyzes user needs, documents requirements, and researches the appropriate pathways. Actively participates in all medical informatics activities that support the medication use process including; education of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, health care colleagues and administrators. Provides resource expertise for planning additional pharmacy information technology projects.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 1 - 3 years experience
- Pharmacist - NH licensed or eligible
Maintains a working knowledge of the Meditech computer system used in the pharmacy to assist supporting current computer applications and in new development activities.
Maintains the hospital pharmacy department formulary in Meditech and BMV.
Oversees BMV pharmacy scanning requirements.
Maintains and builds the computer system for the enhancement of Computerized Physician Order Entry and AOM/RXM dictionaries for Medication Reconciliation and electronic prescription generation.
Building order sets to reduce time required for order entry, to increase patient safety by providing clinical decision points for physicians when entering orders.
Internal Decision Support- manages data to produce reports and information requested by or of potential value to other departments.
Reviews pharmacy specific enhancements, fixes, and module additions for upgrades and system changes. Completes quarterly updates.
Participates in committees as assigned by the Department Director.
Assists in the building and maintenance of the Hospira: Smart Pump Library.
