This position is accountable for producing the following result: The pharmacist is the patient advocate and serves as a resource to advise the physician for the best available pharmaceutical products or services for his/her patient. The pharmacist proactively assures that the customers prescriptions are filled accurately and timely and that the customer is counseled appropriately with all pertinent information on the use of their medication. The pharmacist often has the final word directing the staff to accomplish the above in an efficient, legal, cost effective, and courteous manner.

  • Tactical Work:

  • Communicates with physicians and other medical personnel
  • Be the patients pharmaceutical advocate
  • Recommend alternative pharmaceutical therapy when appropriate
  • Performs final check on all prescriptions
  • Counsels patients on the appropriate use of their medications
  • Teaches patients on the appropriate use of medical devices
  • Assist other personnel with third party formulary challenges
  • Advises delivery and shipping regarding narcotic shipping and receiving laws
  • Advises customers in the store or over the phone relating to their over-the-counter products, nutritional supplements, and prescription needs
  • Assures that all technicians and pharmacy operations are conducted safely and according to pharmacy law
  • Conducts medication reviews as requested by patients
  • Log into the Rx Solutions Center daily to check messages, respond to assignments, contribute to appropriate forums
  • Conduct community classes or marketing functions as necessary
  • Become trained to give immunizations and follow pharmacy procedure to give immunizations
  • Oversees ordering, storage and dispensing of CII prescriptions and other controlled drugs
  • Become proficient in and follow current MTM practices performed in the pharmacy including RxTM, Mirixa, and Outcomes and WVPEIA Face to Face provider.
  • Ensuring the proper opening and secure closing of facilities, the secure and proper handling of the money and daily receipts, the daily reports performed, daily computer backup performed.
  • Maintain customer and prescriber awareness of unique products & services, especially prescription compounding and durable medical equipment.
  • Provide input and assistance with the pharmacy inventory control with diligent attention to appropriate and responsible product replenishment and turnover.
  • Become preceptor to pharmacy students and be willing to provide teaching, feedback, and evaluation to students as required.
  • Become proficient in sterile and non-sterile compounding and assures compounding is being performed in accordance with Loop Pharmacy SOPs, USP, and federal and state laws.
  • Provide input and assistance to any and all members of the organization toward the achievement of the pharmacys Strategic Objective.
