Summary of Job Duties
The Pharmacist, under general supervision, assists the Pharmacy Director in the operation of the Pharmacy Department. Provides consultant services to the medical and nursing staff. Within the area of delegated duties/responsibilities and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies, coordinates the operation of the pharmacy department on a daily basis. Staff pharmacist duties may require the employee to be responsible for the assessment, treatment or care of patients of all ages including neonate, child, adolescent, and geriatric. Consequently, the employee must be competent in the interpretation of a patient’s self-report or behavior and this information must be interpreted with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process. The treatment of patients should be individualized and should reflect an understanding of the developmental needs and range of treatment needs for each patient.
Qualifications & Requirements
Ability to lead self and others
Attains a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education credit, acceptable to the State of California Board of Pharmacy every two years as required for re-licensure
Completion of Competencies such as Antineoplastic Drug Preparation and Age Specific
Completion of continuing education required for re-licensure
Evaluation of Aseptic Technique by Observation and Media Fill
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy recognized by the State of California Board of Pharmacy
Possesses a current valid license to practice as a registered Pharmacist in the State of California
Works well with others in a team-oriented environment, including support of other co-workers’ job duties in a manner that further advances the goals and objectives of the whole organization
