Formal Education beyond HS at a Technical or Trade School
  • Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for accurate entry of all data for prescriptions and refills. Responsible for researching patient data to determine PCP, last date the patient was seen, if their medication is still on the medication list, checks for changes in dosages, adverse drug interactions and necessity of another refill. Writes out all CII prescriptions on tamper proof paper and routes to providers for their signatures. Tracks all prescriptions that have been faxed for refills or new prescriptions while maintaining the pharmacy/medication list data base. Faxes all deactivated orders for medications to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Contacts patients if follow up appointments are needed to authorize refills on medications or is clarification of medication request is needed. Job Requirements: Education: One year of formal training or education beyond High School. Experience: 1 year of formal experience in a pharmacy setting. License / Certification / Registration None Working Environment: Works in a well lit, heated and ventilated area. Position requires considerable mobility throughout the facilities. Potential exposure to routine, communicable diseases through regular contact with employees and the public at large.
