PURPOSE AND SCOPE:|
Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.
Under close supervision and direction, compiles, verifies and files medical records of patients according to company standard operating procedures and pertinent regulatory requirements .May provide other patient customer service functions as needed.
Responsible for driving the FMS culture through values and customer service standards.
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
Develop and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
Takes initiative and action to respond and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Compiles and maintains medical records according to company policies and procedures and in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Ensures patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Assists patients that come in to the office to pick up orders or drop off prescriptions.
Stores or disposes of obsolete files when appropriate according to the procedures defined by the Fresenius Medical Care Compliance Records Management department and in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
- Collect money if the patient is picking up prescriptions or paying their bill directly. Reviews customer account information and balances.
- Provides the prescriptions to the pharmacy to be filled.
- Handles entry level customer service issues such as price discrepancies and/or incomplete orders.
Assists in auditing records for ongoing compliance with medical records standards.
Processes incoming and outgoing business mail on a daily basis.
Delivers backup tapes/electronic records to the safe deposit box as requested.
Other duties as assigned which may include, but are not limited to:
Words processing, data entry
- Answering telephone
- Greeting patients
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Day to day work includes desk and personal computer work and interaction with patients, facility staff and physicians. The work environment is characteristic of a healthcare facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels. May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseased/materials.
High School diploma required.
Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred.
Registered or able to be registered as pharmacy technician in the state of Tennessee.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Two years experience in a health care or pharmacy setting preferred, but not required.
Good communications skills - verbal and written.
Ability to learn and apply the basic skills needed to work with RxKey (look up patients, read comments, etc).
Strong organization skills with ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines.
Computer skills including, but not limited to data entry and email.
Develops a working knowledge of pharmacy dispensing regulations and pharmacy data systems.
