Registered Pharmacy Technician
Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, accurately fills prescriptions, prepares I.V. medications, and enters computer data, following standard procedures and regulatory requirements. Technician supports Mail Order Pharmacy operations by helping to expedite medication orders and update patients on the status of their orders. Technician will e nter data into computer, following standard procedures and regulatory requirements.
n Assists and supports all licensed pharmacists in the process of dispensing, issue resolution and and all pharmacy upkeep as outlined in Florida regulations. Florida licensure is mandatory and candidate is expected to keep up with all required Continuing Education.
n Works with pharmacy management in other areas to enable daily production goals and manage customer service events. This position is multidisciplinary and requires competence in areas of dispensing, data entry, inventory management and customer relations.
n Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, fills prescriptions and prepares I.V.s according to PMSI standards of quality, customer service, productivity guidelines and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.
n Works with medical providers in receiving Renewal authorizations from Drs Offices over the phone through “ Doctor Call ” Service under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and in accordance with Florida State Laws
n Works with Operations Manager/Supervisor in entering data into computer system to fill prescriptions and to obtain reimbursement/payment.
n Contacts physician’s offices via fax server or phone to obtain authorizations on orders by entering information in the system.
n Works with computer generated reports to research, verify, and reroute orders to appropriate departments to expedite orders.
n Works with operations Manager/Supervisor in entering data into computer system to fill prescriptions.
n Maintains certification licensure through fulfilling appropriate CEU requirement and renewal.
n Works with pharmacy management on other responsibilities, special projects and initiatives as needed. Works with patients on denials on medications and the status of their orders via telephone and written memo.
n Verifies and updates fax numbers and phone numbers in the system for contacts to be made.
n Works with opening and sorting incoming mail. Forwards doctor called in authorizations and incoming fax authorizations to the appropriate area for scanning in a timely manner.
n Works with technicians by scanning in prescriptions, incoming faxes, and DCI authorizations for processing in a timely manner.
n Works to locate missing orders as well as pulling unclear scanned images for processing.
n Works with supporting the doctor call and data entry department in all functions as needed or assigned by management team

n Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
n Desired: Formal training as a Pharmacy Technician (educational program w/ medical focus)
n Required: 1-2 years of related experience in a long term care, retail, hospital or mail delivery.
n Desired: 2-3 years of related experience in a long term care, retail, hospital or mail delivery.
