Participates in the day-to-day operations of the Pharmacy Department with customers within and outside the department. Responsible for, but not limited to, completing daily task assignments for a position scheduled. Such tasks may include, but not limited to: messenger responsibilities, picking medications, first dose, refills, refilling automated carts, medication cart delivery, packaging unit dose meds, bar coding meds, IV preparations, answering the phone, window interruptions, posting charges, filling anesthesia carts, ordering supplies, ordering IV's, checking wholesaler and direct orders, using the want book, recording borrow and loans, cleaning and straightening, inventory control, and other tasks to assist the pharmacist. Follows policies and procedures of West Florida Hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres to WFH standards of behavior.
Manages stress appropriately and can make decisions under pressure. Manages anger, fear, hostility, violence of others appropriately. Handles multiple priorities. Works in areas that are confined and /or crowded. The minimum requirements of this position require the individual to: work with periods of setting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, walking, talking, answering telephones managing task, dealing with customers across departmental lines and services. Frequently lifts at full range of motion or carries 40 lbs and frequently pulls/pushes with 50 lbs force.
Education sufficient to meet the requirements for the Florida Pharmacy Technician Registration is required. Florida Pharmacy Technician Registration is required. Associate's Degree preferred. National Pharmacy Technician Certification is required.
No experience required. Pharmacy automation experience preferred; IV admixture preparation experience preferred; A minimum of two (2) years of hospital experience preferred.
Organizational, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and communication skills in a detail-oriented, customer- focused organization are required. Basic computer skills are required. Ability to take direction and be self directed to perform specific tasks is required.
