Summary: The Pharmacy Technician position assists the pharmacist in many aspects of filling prescriptions and customer service. Pharmacy Technicians count medications and prepare orders for final verification by the pharmacist. Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurate product verification in the filling of prescriptions and replenishment of the automated counting machines. They must follow all state and federal regulations required for the profession of pharmacy.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to two years related experience as a customer service representative, clerk or office assistant in the medical field; or pharmacy experience.

Certificates and Licenses:

CPhT preferred

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Count, scan, verify and label medication and supplies.
  • Fill, maintain and maintain inventory level in automated machines Fast Fill 220.
  • Assist in resolving computer problems. (crash, reboots, printer problems)
  • Work with Order/Receiving department to coordinate ordering of Special Order medications.
  • General clean up, counters, dusting, equipment and trash removal as needed
  • Enter and send drug orders as needed, send daily drug orders via pharmacy PC as needed.
  • Assist intake and outtake counters as needed.
  • Assist employees in finding over the counter items as needed.
  • Work in oncology, filling, counting, ordering and getting confirmation numbers
  • Needs to have the ability to utilize the PPS system to assist in packaging and shipping via UPS.
  • Review RX30 Auto reorder points and product usage to suggest appropriate reorder levels
  • Ability to review Drug Wholesaler website and order medications
  • Exceptions:
    • Co-ordinate shipments with PCC/COE for shipments and replacements
    • Ability to locate and slot medications within AutoMed PPS system
  • Oncology:
    • Keep inventory and order medications via RX30 and directly with vendors
    • Follow established procedures for Special Pick and Carepack items
    • Accurately fulfill and RX orders for Pharmacist check
    • Follow established protocol for: Revlimid, Thalomid, Affintor, NPlate,
  • Other Special Pick items as they become available
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned.

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft products.
