Essential Functions:

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms under the direction of a pharmacist: fills stat medication orders, prepares medication carts for distribution, prepares IV solutions; delivers narcotics; restocks all work areas; assists in training and orientation of Pharmacy Technician I’s; assists in the development of a formal training program based on department competency standards and goals that will facilitate technicians obtaining national certification; responsible for departmental Quality Assurance; supports the pharmacoeconomic efforts of the pharmacy and hospital; provides on-going training for staff on the Automix Parenteral Nutrition Processor; maintains Quality Assurance, Infection Control and safety data; maintains and operates equipment; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment; maintains current and adequate medication and supplies; accesses patient information utilizing the pharmacy computer system and the Hospital Information System; performs essential functions safely with minimal supervision; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety requirements; a ccesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent, one year of Pharmacy Technician or directly related experience, and registry with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician. Hospital experience and national certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred.
