This position is responsible for participating in and coordinating the daily activities of the pharmacy technicians to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow. Responsibilities include but are not limited to order entry, filling of prescriptions, inventory maintenance and delivery. This individual is responsible for training new technical staff, conducting performance reviews, and approving time in the Beacon system. This individual is responsible for ensuring that nursing unit inspections and distribution of Medication Administration Records/Physician Order Updates are completed on schedule. This individual is able to supervise special projects as assigned by the director of pharmacy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
General knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology; general knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs and formulas; general knowledge of procedures used to compound, reconstitute, and dilute drugs; ability to accurately fill prescriptions and to correctly label medications under supervision; general knowledge of computerized order entry and use of ATC packaging machine. This position functions at the Advanced level, however Journey level applicants will be considered.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of an accredited nine-month pharmacy technician program; or high school diploma or equivalency and one year of pharmacy-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require certification as a pharmacy technician. Preference given to technicians with 5 years consecutive pharmacy technician experience, hospital or long term care experience, and/or pharmacy technician certification .
